I’m Yours
What is this Jason Mraz song I’ve been hearing about for months? Staci bought me We Sing & We Dance & I haven’t had a chance to listen to them entirely yet. Kylie told me about “I’m Yours” sometime last year, & it was mentioned to me by several other people since then, since I am always singing “You & I Both” at Karaoke Hut. See, there’s my copy of Waiting For My Rocket sitting there on my CD rack. It’s good stuff.
So finally, I got to hear the acclaimed “I’m Yours.”
It sounds like Jack Johnson, with better singing.
I feel so sad.

The Panic Channel.
When I was in 7th grade my favorite band was Duran Duran (for the record, I hated Menudo). In 10th grade my favorite band was Ratt, & I had every cassette they had published. The first CD I bought was Staring At The Sea. But probably my favorite band & album of all my 37 years of music dependency is Jane’ Addiction, & Nothing’s Shocking. Perry Farrell’s genius & eerie voice, Stephen Perkins’ exotic percussion, & Eric A.’s aggressive bass & Dave Navarro’s lyrical guitar were —are— perfection to me.
When JA broke up in 1991, I wasn’t sad. It just seemed right. I couldn’t even imagine what else they could possibly do after Nothing’s Shocking & Ritual de lo Habitual. My friends thought it heresy, but I didn’t mourn.
They were already perfect. Nothing more could be done.
