Turkeys.
My neighbors have got, for their Thanksgiving luau next door, a guy playing guitar & singing a combination of old school karaoke bar hits like “Delilah” & “Elvira” & baldly off-pitch renditions of Eagles songs which I’m guessing are actually renditions of the dumbed-down Eagles renditions of local bands, because frankly if this guy had ever heard the Eagles themselves I don’t think he’d dumb their songs down quite this much.
Thank goodness I’m heading over to my parents’ house in a little while. The hilarity of my situation wore off some time ago.

Karaoke Review 11-23
This was a very odd Sunday for me in that I decided, after singing one song earlier in the evening simply to get the ball rolling, that we had enough singers in the room & I wasn’t going to sing. And I didn’t.
Instead I had Carbombs with Pacman.
Frankly, I don’t regret it.
We really did have enough singers in the room. We were also graced by a visit from one of the suspected song deleters, who was wonderfully charming & fun, & quite frankly I enjoyed her company very much. I have this weird quirk which causes me to be able to actually like people even when I know they don’t like me or even hate me. Yeah. It’s good & bad at the same time.

Karaoke Review 11-16
There was no diary entry for last week Sunday because I was just too busy; it was our dear friend & kick ass singer Starr’s birthday party & everyone had a great time. We did have a few tourists, but they weren’t too bad.
This Sunday was exciting because I discovered certain songs missing from the computer, & these songs happened to be selections that were previously mentioned on this blog — Alanis’ “Mary Jane,” Gavin Rossdale’s “Love Remains The Same,” Lauren Christy’s “Colour of Night,” Keith Urban’s “You’ll Think of Me” among others.
What a coincidence, huh?

Chris Cornell & Timbaland
They’re saying it’s the “best music of their careers.”
I was very impressed with what Timbaland did with OneRepublic’s “Apologize” (with the exception of the Retard sounds in the background); I thought he did a great job of bringing out the vocals & intensifying the mood of the song. When I heard he would be working with Chris Cornell, my favorite male vocalist since Temple of the Dog, I couldn’t even imagine what that would be like. Chris Cornell of the expensive chords & the soulfully rocking voice.
I listened to 3 tracks, names unknown. The first song was Rob Bass with Michael Bolton. The second sounded cool but could have been sung successfully by any vocalist including any unskilled karaoke singer (like a lot of songs in this genre) & was ultimately utterly boring to me. The third sounded more like Rob Thomas on his hispanic kick & seemed incomplete without a guitar solo by Santana.
Well, now I know.

Karaoke Review 11-02
Last night was a little unusual. To begin with, my grandfather passed away & a number of friends showed up to get shitfaced with me show support, which was quite heartwarming. Because of the evening’s events, however, it ended up being backwards. I started off the night drunk & finished it sober.
The previous night I had done a short gig at the Down Towne event at E & O Trading Company, at which I discovered Corralejo on the liquor shelves & 11 drink tickets in my hand. I survived with a little babysitting from a friend, but I was ready to go again by Sunday night.
This night wasn’t characterized so much by song as it was by drama.
