Gotye, Kimbra

First, this.   Cool break up song.   There’s a cover in which the dude who sings the chorus has a cooler voice than his but overall I like this guy.   If you can get over his nipple in the beginning of the video it’s a pretty cool video as well.

Then, this.   She’s a 21-year-old from New Zealand.   She’s got a very interesting voice, but this was the only song that I enjoyed. Gotta love those lyrics. It’s been a long time since I heard a song in which the lyrics were so… lyrical.

  1. Wow… I dug both tracks, but I really liked the Gotye one. Thanks for sharing!

Got a couple tracks to give back, with the genre following on similar vein:

Bedouin Soundclash feat. Cœur de pirate “Brutal Hearts”

Fitz and the Tantrums “Dear Mr. President”

    • Whoops, wrong link. This is “Dear Mr. President”. The other was “Moneygrabber”, also a great song by Fitz.

  3. I thought I blogged this but here’s another retro themed performer. Very simplistic song but I find it haunting.

I forget how to embed YouTube videos in comments. lol

  4. I’ve heard of Lana Del Rey, but haven’t heard any of her songs. That was awesome… thanks for the intro!

I do love that haunting sound paired with breathy vocals. Reminds me of Sia, Poe, Lykke Li, and others that I can’t put my finger on.

As for embedding videos, I don’t know how I did it! I’m pretty sure I just dropped a typical URL in there.

    Testing…

  6. Haha, I think I figured it out. Are you using youtu.be links? Try using the full URL instead of the short version (ie: http:// www. youtube. com/watch?v=o3lBF2h-Pl0)

That should do it… I hope!
