I bought a new iPod a few days ago. My first generation 15GB had been slowly deteriorating after 4 years of mostly hanging out in my bag, since I became snobby about mp3s. The years of non-use, I think, had done it in. The big clincher was that when I decided I wanted to use it, I couldn’t remember where I put it.
Meh, time to get a new one.
Journey to Apple Store online. Four years ago I had walked into the Ala Moana Apple Store’s grand opening & seen mp3 players that were just like how I had pictured mp3 players being, & I dropped $700 to get one for myself & one for the bf. And there began my love affair with The Ideal MP3 Player, complete with eventual complacence, boredom, & yearning for other things (actual CDs, SACDs). Just like in a real relationship.
I’d never used the full 15GB on my Classic, even when I’d loaded WAV files into it. The bulk of my music collection is there on that humangous CD rack & the smaller racks next to it — not on my hard drive. My hard drive is for GAMES, bitches. GAMES.
